Four members of the same family, including three children ages 11, 15 and 16, have died following a devastating apartment fire in the Bronx caused by a lithium-ion battery from an electric scooter.

The fire broke out Wednesday inside an 11th-floor apartment at the Patterson Houses in Mott Haven. Officials say the scooter was charging near the front door, blocking the family's escape. The children's father survived and remains hospitalized.
