Flydubai Pilots Who Landed Damaged Aircraft Identified for First Time
The two pilots who took control of a Flydubai Boeing after Indian pilot Sumit Machhar was attacked with an axe in an apparent suicide attack attempt have been identified as Hanson Stephen of Fiji and Rowan Toth of South Africa.
Despite damage to the aircraft, including part of its tail, they successfully landed in Saudi Arabia.
The pilots received honors in the UAE alongside Machhar for their bravery and composure under pressure.
