A Florida man was arrested for allegedly making online threats to shoot up a newly opened Orthodox Jewish community.
Jerry Sneed was arrested after he posted photos on social media of a firearm next to the location of Lakefront Estates in Glades County, along with threatening messages, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
Sneed, 31, was arrested Wednesday and charged with “written or electronic threats to kill, do bodily injury, or conduct a mass shooting or an act of terrorism, and unlawful use of a two-way communication device,” per the FDLE.
Lakefront Estates CEO Yidel Perlstein commended local law enforcement for acting quickly to arrest the man.
“He’s behind bars, and hopefully that’s a lesson to everyone that you don’t need to wait until it escalates, they immediately acted. They caught him,” Perlstein said.
