Tonight, 22 Cheshvan, is the yartzeit of the previous Liska Rebbetzin, Rebbetzin Nechama Friedlander a"h.

A noble matriarch, she was the daughter of Harav Avraham Yehoshua Heschel Frankel, the Hivnov-Lubliner Rebbe. Raised in pre-war Vienna, she possessed an elite lineage tracing back to legendary Chassidic masters, including the Apter Rav, the Chozeh of Lublin, Reb Elimelech of Lizhensk, the Berditchever Rebbe, the Kozhnitzer Maggid, and the Sar Shalom of Belz.

Having survived the horrors of the Holocaust and spending those difficult years separated from her family, she moved to America with her husband, Rav Yosef Friedlander zt"l (the previous Liska Rebbe), to rebuild the Liska Hasidic Dynasty. Together, they established the Liska Beis Medrash on 50th Street in Boro Park. Her petirah (passing) on 22 Chehvon remarkably coincided with the yartzeit of the holy Belzer Rebbe, Rav Yissachar Dov Rokeach zt"l ZY"A!
